At Hauterives in northern Drôme, there is the Palais Idéal... Ferdinand Cheval, whose real job was postman but who was also a brilliant builder and a philosopher in his spare time, built his dream construction with his own hands between 1879 and 1912, requiring more than 10,000 days of hard work. This is a truly unique site, with truly unique architecture!
